Clara pulled her tablet out of her backpack, the corner of which had been broken for months. The bailiff connected it to the courtroom screen.
When the first image appeared, the room held its breath…
On the screen appeared a series of photos and videos that Clara had secretly recorded over several weeks. Damien could be seen repeatedly lying and manipulating those around him.
In one particularly shocking video, he was arguing with his lawyer, laughing and explaining how he was going to strip me of everything and distance Clara from me.
The silence in the room was almost palpable. Even Damien's lawyer no longer knew where to look. The judge, his brow furrowed, carefully studied each image.
Then Clara spoke, her voice shaking but determined: "Your Honor, I wanted you to know the truth. Mom doesn't deserve what Dad is trying to do to her. She loves me more than anything and has always taken care of us."

I felt tears well up, a mixture of relief and pride. My daughter had just spoken up to protect us both.
The judge sighed deeply and, looking at Damien, declared: "After reviewing this evidence, it's clear that the child's well-being must come first. Primary custody will be awarded to the mother."
Clara ran to me and hugged me tightly. That day, we had won much more than a judgment: we had regained our confidence, dignity, and strength.
